Coming off the heels of her successful solo gospel concert debut in the United States last year, Trinidad singer Carol Addison will treat her NY fans to another unforgettable night of her music ministry this Easter.
`This Is It` is the theme of Addison’s second concert, which will feature the award-winning Caribbean songstress. Considered as one of Trinidad & Tobago’s national treasures, Addison came on the music scene in the 70's and quickly became one of the most successful recording and performing artists in the country earning the title of the Caribbean’s Queen of Soul.
Gospel music fans will have an opportunity to experience some of the old and all of the new Carol Addison on Saturday, April 11 at the the Eureka Christian Center at 1055 Rogers Avenue, (at the Cor. of Cortelyou Rd.), in Brooklyn, New York.
The show is being held under the auspices of Addison’s home church – His Majesty International Fellowship – which is pastored by Steve and Donna Belgrove. The concert will be a feature of song, drama, dance and comedy with guest artists: Sheldon Ray, His Majesty Theater, On Broadway Dance Company, Pierre Salandy and HM Praise and Worship Ensemble.
During her musical tenure Addison shared the stage with international stars including Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five, Roberta Flack, James Brown, Natalie Cole and Lionel Ritchie.
Her expansive songbook includes such signature hits as Born To Shine, Take Me Back and Imagine. Addison migrated to the United States about two decades ago on a music scholarship and took the time to hone her musical skills. She remained quiet but not inactive.
During recent years, Addison became a Christian and as such has re-invented herself as a versatile gospel singer. She has dedicated her life to ministering to others through her music.
`I simply want to reach members of my audience with the word of God through song,` she says. `I feel that at this stage of my life, the way I am living and my commitment to the word of God, I would rather give performances that are more in keeping with the way I live now.`
